Zab Judah Won’t Pick Shakur vs Haney — “The Greatest Fight in Boxing That Never Happens”

Zab Judah has been saying the same sentence for a year, and on Mill City Boxing he said it again: Shakur Stevenson against Devin Haney is the greatest fight in boxing that never happens. Asked for a pick, he shut the question down. He does not have a pick, he said, because the fight is not happening — there is no pick, stop it, cut it out, until the fighters sign on paper. His reason is the weight dispute: Stevenson is headed to 140, Haney is at 147, and the two stay apart. So far, he notes, he has been right since last year.

The segment that brought him there was Keyshawn Davis, whose live rant against Richardson Hitchins is played in the video — Davis insisting nobody has ever seen him scared and that Hitchins is the scared one. The host then lays out the contradiction. Keyshawn says Hitchins finally signed for December; Hitchins, on X as the host reads it, says that is a lie, tells fans to ask Keyshawn if Keyshawn has signed, and calls him delusional. The host also reads leaked messages in which Keyshawn tells Hitchins his own ink is dry and asks if Hitchins has signed, Hitchins replies everything will be ready on his end, and Keyshawn answers that Hitchins never signed his part — while telling him he is not fighting Brian Norman, he is fighting Keyshawn. Two signed stories, no announcement. The host adds that coach Dorsett has Keyshawn’s camp in Vegas training, with still no announcement.

Judah’s reaction to Keyshawn surprised in its warmth. He sees a young fighter in a new big house, body right, mind right, feeling himself — and says he has every right to call everybody out. His wider point is that social media now helps make fights — a front-row seat his era never had. He adds the cold water himself: J Prince aimed his double-barrel shotguns at Haney, neither went off, and Haney is now fighting Liam Paro instead. Training, Judah says, is 85 percent of the job.

One more answer deserves its own line. A fan superchat claimed historians rate Tank Davis the greatest defensive fighter ever, ahead of Floyd Mayweather, Pernell Whitaker and Willie Pep. Judah said no — repeatedly — then softened it only this far: Tank is great at what he does, but he has not shown that level of defense yet. It is the same straight, conditional Judah who weighed Ennis and Haney on Mill City this week — no manufactured picks, for anybody.

Our take: Judah is the rare voice in this saga who refuses to sell a fight that does not exist. The DMs prove talk, not signatures. Show the contract, announce the date, and the talking can finally mean something.
